This guide explains howto install Google Chrome Web browser on Fedora 29/28/27 and CentOS/Red Hat (RHEL) 7.5. Best way to install and keep up-to-date with Google Chrome browser is use Google’s own YUM/DNF repository.

You should have sudo rights or be root user

sudo -i

or

su -

for the rest of the article we assume you decided to become the root user, if not then just append sudo to every command

Enable the Google YUM repository

Fedora 29

dnf install fedora-workstation-repositories
dnf config-manager --set-enabled google-chrome

CentOS/RHEL 7

cat << EOF > /etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo
[google-chrome]
name=google-chrome
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub

Install Google Chrome with YUM

Fedora 29

dnf install google-chrome-stable

CentOS/RHEL 7

yum install google-chrome-stable

you can also install the beta and unstable versions by installing one of the following instead of google-chrome-stable

  • google-chrome-beta
  • google-chrome-unstable
